His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday received Issam Al Bashir, Sudan’s former awqaf minister, who is also president of the Islamic Fiqh (Jurisprudence) Academy of Sudan.

At the meeting, King Abdullah and Bashir discussed challenges facing the Arab and Islamic nation, especially dealing with dangers posed by terrorism and the “cowardly acts committed by radical groups, in the name of Islam”.

The King stressed the importance of collaboration among the various Islamic organisations to combat misleading ideologies, expose their supporters and safeguard the coming generations, as part of a strategy based on the teachings of true Islam.

Bashir extended his sympathies and condolences to His Majesty and the Jordanian people over the death of Muath Kasasbeh, the pilot who was killed in the line of duty in defence of his religion and country.

Bashir stressed the importance of unifying the Islamic nation in confronting and combating terrorism in defence of Islam and human values.

Royal Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh, His Majesty’s Office Director Jafar Hassan and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Hayel Dawood attended the meeting.
