His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday stressed that building a united and stable Iraq is in Arabs' and Jordan's interest as it is an Iraqi national interest.

During a meeting with Iraqi Accord Front President, Adnan Dulaimi, the King said Arab countries and Iraq's neighbors have an important role to play to help Iraq overcome the current difficult situation it faces.

King Abdullah warned against attempts to exploit the situation which aggravated in the aftermath of the last month's attack on the holy Shiite shrines in the Iraqi city of Samarra.

He called on all Iraqi Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds to work together and stop attempts to incite sectarian fighting among them, saying Jordan will intensify its contacts with countries in the region and the multinational forces in Iraq to prevent further escalation.

King Abdullah stressed Jordan's support for all sincere efforts to protect Iraq's unity and integrity.

For his part, Dulaimi voiced appreciation for the King's support for Iraq, saying Jordan will remain a strong supporter and the closer to its people.

He also welcomed the King's call to host a meeting in Amman bringing together Iraqi religious leaderships to discuss the best possible methods to protect Iraq's unity and stability.

He described the call "a practical and pioneering step."
