His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday said that regardless of the outcome of the Palestinian legislative elections, the two-state formula will remain the reasonable solution for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

The King told visiting members of the French parliament at the Royal Court that the next two years would be decisive in determining the future of the Palestinian state, which, he said, is the only way for peace and stability to prevail and violence and extremism to come to an end.

King Abdullah reiterated the need for parties to the Mideast conflict to return to the negotiating table and go ahead with the peace process.

On Iraq, King Abdullah renewed Jordan's stand in support of the emergence of an Iraqi government that represents all Iraqis and works to regain stability and security and secure a better life for Iraqis.

During his meeting with the French delegation, headed by François-Xavier Villain, the King made reference to the Amman Message, which intends to clarify the true picture of Islam.

The King described bilateral ties with France as historic and said Jordan is keen on developing them in all fields, while thanking Paris for its support for the Kingdom.

The visiting deputies met with Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdul Ilah Khatib. Talks focused on bilateral relations and French investments in the Kingdom, as well as regional and international issues of common concern.
