His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday ordered the immediate implementation of a project to renovate the centre of Salt and restore its architectural heritage.

Chairing a meeting of the committee tasked with supervising the development of the city, the King called for a special fund to be established to finance the project's implementation.

His Majesty the King called on the city's wealthy citizens to donate to the fund to help cover the JD10 million implementation costs, while announcing that he himself would be the first to donate.

Senator Yousef Dalabih and Salt Mayor Maher Abul Samen briefed the King on the study, which has been prepared to develop the city centre, which suffers from traffic jams and overcrowding.
