His Majesty King Abdullah condemned the "cowardly and criminal" terrorist attack that occurred in the port city of Aqaba on Friday and killed a Jordanian soldier and wounded another.



Three missiles were fired from a warehouse in the port city. Two hit the wall of a hospital and a Jordan Armed Forces' facility, killing Ahmad Al-Najdawi and wounding Ahmad Mutleq, both Jordanian soldiers. The third landed in the Israeli port city of Eilat.



In telephone calls with His Royal Highness Prince Faisal, the Regent, Prime Minister Adnan Badran, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Khalid Saraiyrah, the King checked on the situation in Aqaba following the incident.



"This criminal act will not stop Jordan from fulfilling its duty and showing the real essence of Islam, which terrorists seek to distort," the King said.



Also on Friday, King Abdullah sent a cable of condolences to Al Najdawi's family.



Upon the King's directives, His Royal Highness Prince Faisal Ben Al Hussein visited the Princess Haya Military Hospital and inquired about Mutleq's health.
