King meets Abbas

His Majesty King Abdullah II expressed Thursday his full support for the new Palestinian leadership and its efforts to regain the rights of the Palestinian people and establish their viable independent state.



The King told Abbas at a Raghadan Palace meeting that the Kingdom supports the new Palestinian leadership, underlining the need to push the peace process forward and encourage both sides of the conflict to fully implement the roadmap to the Middle East peace process.



"The Palestinian election paved the way for overcoming the current stage and forming a bright future for the Palestinians," His Majesty said.



The two leaders said they were keen to coordinate efforts related to the London Conference, scheduled to be held in March, and discuss means to push peace forward and support the Palestinian leadership to boost its economy and support its civil society institutions.



The King stressed Jordan's readiness to support the Palestinian leadership in all efforts to build its institutions.



The King hosted a lunch banquette attended by the Palestinian president and senior Jordanian and Palestinian officials.
