His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday called for enhancing understanding and cooperation among followers of various religious sects.



Receiving Islamic scholars participating in a seminar on bringing followers of sects closer which started in Amman Thursday, the King called for establishing constructive dialogue that would serve humanity as a whole.



During the meeting, attended by Royal Court Minister Samir Rifai, the King's Adviser on Islamic Affairs and Chief Islamic Justice Izzeddine Khatib Tamimi and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Ahmad Hilayel, the King highlighted that Islam is a religion of moderation and openness and that it upholds the principles of justice, tolerance and coexistence.



The scholars paid tribute to His Majesty's efforts to unify the Islamic nation and build bridges of cooperation with all peoples of the world.
