King Meets Members of US Congress

His Majesty king Abdullah II affirmed that the year 2005 will be full of positive opportunities that we should seize to solve conflict in the Middle East, enhance democracy and establish just and permanent peace in the region.



During a meeting with members of the US Congress from the Democratic Party, Senator Joseph Lieberman and Senator Mark Dayton in the presence of Hashemite Royal Court Minister Sameer Rifai, Foreign Minister Dr. Hani Mulki and the US Charge d'affaires in Amman David Hale, His Majesty affirmed the importance of supporting all efforts that aim at pushing the peace process forward, helping the Palestinians in establishing their viable independent state and enabling the Iraqis to enjoy a secure and bright future.



On Jordanian-US ties, the King expressed appreciation for the US assistance that contribute to enabling the Kingdom to implement its developmental programs and achieve progress in the social and economic fields.



Members of the Congress for their part highly valued efforts being exerted by His Majesty to achieve peace in the region. They also praised the ambitious developmental and reform programs being implemented by Jordan in the various fields.
