King Participates in Arafat's Funeral

His Majesty King Abdullah II expressed his heartfelt sorrow over the passing away of Palestinian President Yasser Arafat.



Upon participating in the funeral ceremony of Palestinian President Yasser Arafat in Cairo on Friday, the King said that we lost a figure who struggled for the main Arab issue.



"The Palestinians lost a leader who struggled to achieve independence for the Palestinians and we need to resume work to achieve such hope by reviving the peace process," the King said.



In addition, His Majesty affirmed that Jordan will continue to support the Palestinian brethren to regain their rights and establish their independent state. We are sure that the Palestinian brethren are aware and able to maintain their unity to overcome the current hard circumstances, King Abdullah added.



His Majesty also expressed his condolences to the Palestinian Authority and the Palestinian people for this great loss, asking for God's mercy and blessing for the prominent leader.



The King is accompanied by a delegation that includes HRH Prince Ali Ben Al Hussein, Prince Talal Ben Mohammad, Prime Minister Faisal Fayez, President of the Senate Zeid Rifai, Lower House Speaker Abdel Hadi Majali, King's Special Advisor Yousef Dalabeeh, Minister of the Royal Court Sameer Rifai, Chief Islamic Justice and the King's Advisor for Islamic Affairs Izzedin Khateeb Tameemi, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hani Mulki and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Ahmad Helayil.
