King Calls for Establishing Fund to Support Projects in Ma'an

His Majesty King Abdullah II called for establishing a special fund to support micro developmental projects in the Ma'an Governorate in cooperation with Al Hussein University.



During a meeting at the Royal Court with notables from Ma'an Governorate, the King underlined the importance of formulating a comprehensive plan to develop the city of Ma'an, particularly in the economic field with a view to tackle the problems of unemployment
and poverty.



The King said that he had instructed the government to take the necessary measures to establish an industrial state in Ma'an.



He also stressed the need to support and activate civil society institutions in the governorate, youth clubs as well as institutions concerned with women affairs.



"Developing the infrastructure in Petra should be given great attention in cooperation with the public and private sectors so as to develop tourism in the Petra region and attract more tourists to it," King Abdullah said, during the meeting, which was attended by the prime minister, the King's Special advisor, Royal Court minister, the King's advisor for tribal affairs, planning and international cooperation minister as well as the minister of interior.



His Majesty also called for activating the role of Al Hussein Bin Talal University in the local community and activate the work of local institutions in cooperation with the university.



Notables of Ma'an for their part expressed their appreciation for the attention given by His Majesty to develop the Ma'an governorate and attract investments to it.
