King Starts Official Visit to Poland& Russia

His Majesty king Abdullah II started on Wednesday a several-day working visit to the Republic of Poland and the Russian Federation.



The King headed to Warsaw where he will meet today with the Polish president Aleksander Kwasniewsk and Prime Minister Marek Belka. His Majesty's talks with Polish officials are expected to focus on means of promoting bilateral ties, particularly in the economic field, in addition to the political developments in the Middle East.



King Abdullah will also meet with a number of businessmen as well as Polish economic figures and will attend with the Polish president the signing of a number of cooperation agreements between Jordan and Poland in the scientific, educational, cultural and tourism fields.



In the Russian capital Moscow, His Majesty will hold a summit meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which the two leaders will discuss the situation in Palestine and Iraq in addition to relations between Jordan and Russia.



The King will also meet with the Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov to discuss mechanisms of developing bilateral ties.



His Majesty will also deliver a speech at the Moscow Institute for International Relations in the presence of scientific, political and academic figures, and will meet with a number of Russian businessmen to brief them of prospects of investment in Jordan and possibilities of establishing investment projects and partnership between the private sector of both countries.



His Majesty will chair part of a number of seminars during which Jordanian officials accompanying His Majesty, will brief the Russian businessmen community on opportunities provided by Jordan's economy to investment in the various fields.



King Abdullah is a companied by an official delegation that includes the King's Advisor for Security Affairs, Director of the Intelligence Department and Rappoerteur of the State Security Council, General Saad Khier, Minister of the Hashemite Royal Court Sameer Rifai, His Majesty's Advisor Akil Beltaji, Foreign Minister, Dr. Marwan Muasher, Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Bassim Awadallah and Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Dr. Alia Bouran.



His Royal Highness Prince Faisal Bin Al Hussein was sworn in as Regent in the presence of cabinet ministers.
