His Majesty King Abdullah II Monday declared his support to draft plan on administrative decentralization in the governorates as prepared by the Interior Ministry. During a visit to the ministry, King Abdullah called for preparing studies and legislation relevant to the plan in preparation for approving it formally.



The King also stressed the necessity to give a greater role to governors with the aim of enhancing their role in the development process in their districts.



Interior Minister Samir Habashneh said the reason behind the plan is to achieve local sustainable development in various governorates and to speed up measures for implementing the King's vision to expand local governance powers to promote sustainable development.
