King Starts Official Visit to the UK

His Majesty King Abdullah started on Wednesday a working visit to the United Kingdom.



During the visit, the King will patronize on Thursday the Jordanian Investment Forum in London which is organized by the Jordan Investment Board with a view to familiarize British investors on investment opportunities in Jordan. The King will also address members of the English-Arab organization to explain the Jordanian and Arab stand on the issues of the region.



His Majesty is accompanied by an official delegation that comprises His Majesty's advisor for security affairs, Gen. Saad Kheir, King's advisor, Aqel Bultaji, minister of the Royal Court, Samir Rifai, minister of industry and trade , Muhammad Halaiqa, planning minister, Basem Awadallah, and minister of tourism and environment, Alia Boran. The King's participation in the Forum comes within his Majesty's keenness to develop the national economy, promote the Jordanian investment projects and to introduce the Jordanian investment privileges, especially after joining various international agreements, establishing the Qualified Industrial Zones, and announcing Aqaba as special economic zone.



President of the Jordan Investment Board, Reem Badran, heads of the Jordan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, representatives of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone along with representatives of industrial, tourism and transport sectors will take part in the Forum. Halaiqa said that the aim of the current visit is to promote investments in Jordan though introducing the Jordanian investment privileges in the various fields.



"The Forum will cover tourism, pharmaceutical, and the information technology issues," Halaiqa said who also noted that around 200 British businessmen will take part in the Forum, a fact that indicates the interest of the British side in Jordan.



Representatives of the participating sectors will highlight, during the Forum, scopes and opportunities of investment in Jordan, important investment projects along with the issue of privatization. During the Forum, the Jordanian delegation will meet with representatives from the Arab-English Chamber of Commerce as well as representatives from the educational, engineering, industrial, information technology, pharmaceutical, energy, tourism, and investment domains.
