His Majesty King Abdullah II arrived on Monday in Bucharest on a two-day visit to Romania in the course of tour in Eastern Europe which already took him to Croatia and the Czech Republic.



During the visit, the first since assuming power, King Abdullah is expected to hold talks with Romanian President Ion Iliescu and other senior Romanian officials and businessmen on bilateral cooperation in political, economic, and cultural spheres.



The talks will also cover latest developments in the Middle East including the situation in Iraq and Middle East peace talks.



King Abdullah flew in to Romania after a two-hour visit to the Czech Republic where he held talks with Czech President Vaclav Klaus on bilateral relations and means of bolstering them in investment, tourism, and economic fields.



His Majesty King Abdullah briefed President Klaus on investment opportunities in Jordan made available by the open market economy policy in the country, which has concluded a number of free trade agreements with several world countries.



Talks also covered the latest political developments in the Middle East where King Abdullah noted Jordan's unceasing efforts to realize peace in the region and to accelerate the handover of power to the Iraqis.



For his part, Czech President expressed his country's desire to boost relations with Jordan in various fields and affirmed that the King's visit to Prague would open broad horizons for greater cooperation between the two countries.



Jordan tries to enhance cooperation with the Czech Republic and to that cooperation agreements covering areas of trade, scientific, health, services, and investment protection have been concluded with this country.



A delegation from the private sector is expected to visit Prague to discuss potential investment projects between the two countries.
