King receives World Bank Director

His Majesty King Abdullah II on Friday discussed with World Bank director James Wolfenson mechanisms of cooperation between Jordan and WB.



His Majesty expressed appreciation on WB support to Jordan's economic and development programs in the fields of health, education and infrastructure.



The discussions focused also on the bank's support to finance Amman highway and its preparedness to support the Red Sea- Dead Sea Canal project, where intensive preparations are taking place to start the project in an effort to salvage the Dead Sea of the threat of diminishing waters.



Wolfenson expressed regards to Jordan for supporting its efforts in Iraq and Palestine through hosting WB bureau, which supervises the bank's activities in the two brotherly countries.



Wolfenson hailed also the Jordanian economy's performance and achieving reasonable growth in the past few years.



Separately, His Majesty met with congressman Jean Harry.



During an audience with SAEC Executive Director Cain Dalberg and Chairman of American Tourism Agencies Association Robert Wightly, His Majesty reviewed investment climate in Jordan in the fields of tourism and economy.



A number of the Jordanian delegation accompanying His Majesty in his current visit to USA carried out series of meetings with congressmen and directors of companies and economic installations. The King's Advisor Aqel Beltaji reviewed with congressmen and American tourism activists potentials of investment Jordan affords, particularly in the field of tourism.



Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology Fawaz Zu'bi discussed with directors of IT companies means of enhancing cooperation and benefiting from their experiences.



Minister of Planning and International cooperation Basem Awadallah reviewed with mass media representatives in Washington the key issues to be discussed in World Economic Form in Jordan next week.



He said that His Majesty King Abdullah II and President Bush's discussion of WEF meeting in Jordan dedicates the American administration and the Congress's care in such a meeting.



Awadallah told "Petra" that Jordan's hosting of WEF meeting dedicates King Abdullah and Jordan's success in delivering the Jordanian an Arab voice to such institutions.
