King: Judiciary and Education main pillars for comprehensive reform and development

His Majesty King Abdullah II has affirmed his support for the strategy of developing judiciary and education, which he sees as basic pillars for the future of democracy and political and economic reform as well as for sustainable development in the Kingdom Speaking during a visit to the Justice Ministry on Tuesday, King Abdullah said he was ready to provided all forms of material and moral support to the plan of developing the judiciary system aimed to foster independence of the judicial authority and address points of weakness in the judicial body.



Justice Minister Salah Eddine al-Bashir briefed His Majesty the King on the basic elements of the strategy for developing the judiciary that is expected to be completed by 2006. The vision of this strategy is based on improving performance of the judicial body, promoting its
independence and its role in supporting the civil society and Jordan's economic competitiveness since half of law cases at Jordanian courts are of economic nature, he said.



This strategy, he added is the fruit of joint cooperation between all parties involved in judiciary practices such as lawyers, police departments and academic institutions.
