King Receives President of the SOS Children's Villages

His Majesty King Abdullah II, received at Bait Al Baraka on Sunday, the president of the SOS Children's Villages, Helmut Kutin, who is currently on a visit to the Kingdom to look into services provided by the Jordanian SOS villages in Amman, Aqaba and Irbid.



His Majesty affirmed his support to SOS projects in Jordan, as well as his appreciation of efforts being exerted by the SOS International to help orphan and deprived children and provide them with care.



The King praised efforts of Mr. Kutin as well as his personal contribution in supporting SOS programs in the world.



During the meeting, which was attended by Minister of the Hashemite Royal Court, Sameer Rifai, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation and Acting Foreign Minister, Dr. Basim Awadallah as well as Director of the SOS Villages in Jordan, Lina Qubti, Kutin briefed His Majesty on the projects of the SOS International in Jordan, which includes 350 children and youth, as well as programs and projects its carries out in various world countries.



Helmut Kutin was the first child to join the SOS Villages in the world in an Austrian city in 1953. After his graduation from the university in 1967, he worked for the SOS International, and has assumed the presidency of this organization since 1885. He received a number of awards and medals from many world countries.



The SOS International implements its programs and projects that provide care for deprived children and it works to develop communities through 349 villages and about 1000 centers for youth, schools, kindergartens, social and training centers, clinics as well as relief programs in 131 countries.



The SOS Villages give hope to more than 50,000 orphan and deprived children and youth in all parts of the world, through providing them with attention and care. They help those children and youth to face the challenges of life and they work to integrate the youth into the society and invest their capabilities to serve their communities.
