King and Powell Hold Talks

His Majesty King Abdullah II held talks on Saturday with US Secretary of State Colin Powell, who arrived in Amman to participate in the World Economic Forum (WEF) in the Dead Sea today.



During the meeting, which was attended by Assistant of the US Secretary of Stat William Burns and US Ambassador to Jordan Edward Gnehm, the King affirmed the importance of seizing the opportunity of holding the WEF and the meetings of the quartet committee to achieve a tangible progress that pave the way to the implementation of the roadmap.



The King also noted to the importance of taking practical steps that would increase confidence between the Israeli and Palestinian sides and give way to the implementation of the current peace plan which was supported by international parties.



The King called the US to act swiftly to provide peace, stability and descent life to the Iraqi people.



For his part, Powell informed the King on the results of his meetings with the Israeli and Palestinian officials aimed at urging the two sides to starts the implementation of the roadmap.
