His Majesty King Abdullah II, Sunday met Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher, who handed the King a message from Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak dealing with the mounting tension in the region particularly the perilous situation in the Palestinian territories.

During the meeting which was attended by Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, King Abdullah affirmed support to the Palestinian National Authority and the necessity for the United States to maintain contacts with Palestinian President Yasser Arafat as a key partner to the peace process.

The meeting comes ahead of King Abdullah`s visit to the Washington and his meeting with President for His Majesty was keen to crystallize a united Arab stand in face of the current developments.

King Abdullah discussed with the Egyptian Minister the Jordanian and Egyptian efforts designed to accomplish Arab consensus that could secure success to the upcoming Arab summit in Beirut. The two sides agreed to work immediately to rid the region of the current crisis since the situation can not afford further deterioration.
