His Majesty King Abdullah II will meet Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in Cairo on Monday for talks on the latest developments in the Palestinian territories and the current efforts geared to halt the whirl of violence and pave the ground for resuming Palestinian-Israeli peace talks.

During a phone call earlier on the day, the two leaders agreed to intensify efforts to prevent further aggravation and security deterioration between the two sides following the bloody events on Saturday and Sunday.

King Abdullah also received a phone call from Palestinian President Yasser Arafat where development of events in the Palestinian areas were reviewed . King Abdullah stressed the necessity to give a room for diplomatic efforts particularly those exerted by U.S. peace envoys in the region to help reach an immediate ceasefire and a return the table of negotiations.
