His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday received three Jordanian writers who presented him with copies of their latest works.
Al Rai journalist Ghaith Tarawneh presented King Abdullah a copy of his book, Royal Vision… Future Prospects, which covers the King's efforts to display the true image of Islam and his proposals to develop the country's governorates.
Journalist Mohammad Tumeileh from Al Arab Al Yawm presented the King with his recently published literary work, entitled, Naturally, for Her.
Jihad Jibara, also from Al Rai newspaper, presented a copy of his book, The Sound of the Desert Part II, to the King.
During the meeting, His Majesty asked that the book, which promotes the Jordanian desert and badia life, be distributed at various tourist sites and institutions in both Arabic and English.
Earlier this year, the King ordered the allocation of JD10 million to enhance cultural activities in the country and support Jordanian intellectuals.
Under the plan, an independent fund will provide financial support for publishing creative works, preserving antiquities, establishing museums and creating jobs.
The King also ordered the establishment of a cultural centre that would include an opera house designed to accommodate more than 1,500 attendees, as well as a library, a museum and other facilities.
