King receives good wishes on 66th Independence Day

On the occasion of the 66th Independence Day, His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday received cables of congratulations from heads of Arab, Muslim and friendly states. The King also received congratulatory messages from senior Jordanian officers and officials.

Cables came from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, Sultan Qaboos bin Said of Oman, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, Sudan's President Omar Hassan al-Bashir, Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Lebanese President Michel Suleiman, Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Head of Egypt's ruling Supreme Military Council Field Marshal Mohammad Hussein Tantawi.

The King also received good wishes from Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei, King Carl Gustaf of Sweden, King Albert II of Belgium, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, U.S. President Barack Obama, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Swiss President Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf, Italian President Giorgio Napolitano, Chinese President Hu Jintao, President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins, Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko, President of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bakir Izetbegovic, Austrian President Heinz Fischer, Portugal's President Anibal Cavaco Silva, Romanian President Traian Basescu, and Turkish President Abdullah Gul.
