His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday met with members and Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the US House of Representatives, Ed Royce, for a discussion on a host of Middle East issues and US-Jordanian cooperation.

The US lawmakers underlined Jordan’s efforts to address crises in the Middle East and host a massive influx of Syrian refugees on its territory. In this context, King Abdullah underscored the importance of a forthcoming London conference to be held next month, which will tackle the Syrian refugee crisis in the world and in Jordan in particular. The King and the US House members spoke about efforts underway to combat terrorism and extremism. In this regard, His Majesty emphasised that the war against terrorism must be conducted within a holistic approach, taking the ideological aspect into consideration.

Chairman and members of the committee said Jordan is one of the most important friends of the US in the Middle East, pledging that the committee will further develop ties with the Kingdom and extend additional support to it.
