King chairs National Policies Council meeting

His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday stressed that Jordan is strong and capable of eliminating terrorism, and that unity between the personnel of security agencies and citizens will contribute to preserving the Kingdom’s resilience in facing terrorism.

Chairing a meeting of the National Policies Council (NPC), held at the National Centre for Security and Crisis Management, King Abdullah reiterated that Jordan would show utter resolve in the fight against anyone that tries to attack or harm the safety of the country or its citizens.

His Majesty was briefed on the details of the terror attack and voiced his condolences over the death of security officers, citizens and the Canadian national.

The King added: “Their bravery is a source of pride for all of us, and we appreciate their sacrifices for the country and the saving of innocent hostages, whether Jordanians or foreigners”.

His Majesty said that national unity is the strongest weapon for confronting terror plots, and that treacherous act will not defeat “our high morale in fighting evil powers and destructive extremist ideologies”.

The King also expressed his appreciation for the bravery of the public security and gendarmerie departments’ personnel in defending the country, commending their relentless efforts in executing their duties.

His Majesty, in the presence of NPC Chairman His Royal Highness Prince Feisal Bin Al Hussein, highlighted the importance of supporting security institutions in facing criminals who target Jordan and its residents.

The King praised the unity of all Jordanians in dealing with such incidents and for showing the highest dedication to the public interest.

Senior military and civil officials attended the meeting.
