Popular demands for expediting the reform process are “respected and appreciated,” His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday told a community in a north-eastern Badia area, where he spent two days in dialogue with residents.
Speaking at a meeting with community leaders and residents of the Northern Badia, the King said the country is on the right track and there should be no worries over where Jordan is heading, pointing out that the government has drafted key laws related to political reform, and that Jordan has shown throughout its history the ability to overcome “even harder challenges.”
His Majesty noted that he started the reform process more than a decade ago, reasserting his commitment to continuing with the same approach to “achieve political and other reform.”
The King asked all to contribute to the reform process by suggesting workable ideas and programmes to address the challenges, safeguard the domestic front and “stand up to those who place bets on the country’s collapse.”
