In the communiqué, the two leaders reaffirmed the distinguished bilateral ties between Jordan and Oman, calling for bolstering trade exchange and cooperation across all fields, in service of the two countries and peoples.
The communiqué also highlighted the signing of a number of memoranda of understanding and executive programmes in various fields, underscoring the role of the Oman-Jordan Joint Committee in promoting economic cooperation between the two countries’ public and private sectors.
Noting the importance of bolstering joint Arab action, the two leaders emphasised the need to maintain coordination and consultation among Arab countries, and promote economic integration.
Addressing the centrality of the Palestinian cause, both leaders urged stepping up efforts to achieve just and comprehensive peace, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and international law and relevant UN resolutions, and on the basis of the two-state solution, which guarantees the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 4 June 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Sultan Haitham stressed the important role of the Hashemite Custodianship in safeguarding Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and preserving the historical and legal status quo in the holy city, according to the communiqué.
