King and Queen receive UNPF director
Amman, 15 January 2003



Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania Wednesday received Assistant of UN General Secretary and UNPF Executive director Thuraya Ubeid During the meeting, His Majesty King Abdullah II affirmed that Jordan is exerting intensive efforts in order to achieve sustainable development through harmony between economic growth and population growth.

He said that development plans carried out in the Kingdom are based on participation of all in the national development process. He pointed out that such plans focuss on crystallizing young people's skills.

His Majesty expressed appreciation on the efforts UNDPF plays in supporting Jordan.

Dr. Ubeid hailed Their Majesties' efforts to modernize Jordan, and their interest in the issue of youth, family, health and education the matter which has helped to make Jordan in the forefront of Arab countries confronting population challenges.

She pointed out to the qualitative positive change Jordan is witnessing regarding dealing with population challenges.
