King Starts Visit to Singapore
Amman, 12 October 2003

His Majesty King Abdullah II started a few-day working visit to Singapore during which he will take part in deliberations of the annual East Asia summit which is organized by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in cooperation with the Singaporean Council for Economic Development.

His Majesty will deliver a keynote address in the summit on Monday, and will meet with the Singaporean President SR Nathan, Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong, a number of heads of participating delegations and president of the World Economic Forum Klaus Schwab.

The King will also visit the Islamic Center in Singapore and meet with representatives of the media. The East Asia economic summit will discuss a host of issues related to the available economic opportunities, growth in the region and means of enabling leaders and businessmen to look into these opportunities.

A number of workshops and roundtables will also be held to review issues including financing, transport, telecommunication, technology, tourism and health.

Other topics for discussion will include the impact of geopolitical and social issues on the business environment in Asia, Asia's position in the new world order, international and regional trade, tourism, security and South Asia and the search for peace.
