King and Egyptian President Inaugurate Gas Pipeline Project
Amman, 27 July 2003

His Majesty King Abdullah II and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak deemed the Arab project of gas pipeline as an intrinsic step towards enhancing joint Arab action.

The two leaders affirmed, during the talks they held at the Royal palace in Aqaba after inaugurating the gas pipeline project in both Taba and Aqaba, that the project contributes to more solid economic relations amongst Arab countries.

The talks, which was attended by senior officials from both sides, dealt with the latest developments of the Palestinian issue, particularly after the Palestinian prime minister's visit to the United States and his talks with American President George Bush and senior American officials.

The two leaders also affirmed the importance of continuing releasing Palestinian prisoners by Israel, stopping building settlements and starting withdrawal from Palestinian territories.

Talks also covered the latest development of the Iraqi issue, and they called for paving the way to establishing Iraqi government that represents all segments of Iraqi people.
