King urges further joint pan-Islamic action
Amman, 7 May 2014

His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday underlined the significant role the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) plays in fostering solidarity among Muslim countries and addressing the challenges they face.

At a meeting with OIC Secretary General Iyad Madani, who is currently on a visit to Jordan as part of a regional tour, King Abdullah called for supporting initiatives aimed at improving cooperation between Muslim countries and dialogue among members of different cultures and civilisations.

The King also congratulated Madani for his election as OIC secretary general.

For his part, Madani underlined the organisation’s commitment to enhancing solidarity and cooperation among its member states, commending His Majesty’s efforts in safeguarding Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, in addition to his endeavours to bring about peace and stability in the region.
