Royal Hashemite Court (Jordan)
King entrusts Tarawneh with consultations for forming parliamentary government
Amman, 11 February 2013
His Majesty King Abdullah entrusted Chief of the Royal Hashemite Court Fayez Tarawneh to start consultations with parliament members at Basman Palace to choose a new Prime Minister.
This new mechanism to choose a Prime Minister and launch the new parliamentary government experience comes as part of Jordan’s political transformation process, and it was championed by King Abdullah, who announced it in last year’s Speech from the Throne.
Tarawneh will hold consultations with MPs to choose a new Prime Minister, who will in turn consult with parliament members to form his cabinet and prepare the government’s agenda for four years.
The Chief of the Royal Hashemite Court will meet all MPs, whether independent or members of blocs.
