His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday bestowed the Istiqlal Medal of the First Order on Mikio Sasaki, chairman of the Jordanian-Japanese Friendship Society and senior corporate adviser of the Mitsubishi Corporation, in recognition of his efforts to support Jordanian-Japanese ties.

King Abdullah met with Sasaki and discussed economic cooperation. The Mitsubishi group has implemented a project to generate electricity from solar energy in Petra. The project will be officially inaugurated on Thursday.
