King meets UN-Arab League envoy to Syria

Jordan is ready to provide any support required for the success of the Syria peace mission, His Majesty King Abdullah said on Thursday.

Meeting with UN-Arab League special envoy to Syria Kofi Annan, King Abdullah reiterated Jordan’s support for all international and regional efforts to end the bloodshed in Syria.

The King and Annan discussed the latest developments in the region, especially in Syria and efforts to reach a political solution to the crisis.

His Majesty reaffirmed Jordan’s support for a peaceful solution that would maintain the unity of the Syrian people and restore security and stability.

Annan acquainted the King with efforts to resolve the crisis in Syria, according to his six-point plan, highlighting the outcomes of his latest visit to Damascus and meetings with Syrian officials. He commended Jordan’s efforts to alleviate the suffering of Syrian refugees residing in the country, despite the scarce resources and capabilities.
