His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday met with a group of local, Arab and foreign investors in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone and listened to their views on investment conditions in the region, the challenges facing them, and their proposals on the best means to overcome these challenges.
At the meeting, attended by Prime Minister Fayez Tarawneh, King Abdullah stressed the need to eliminate all obstacles facing investors and build public-private sector partnerships. He also urged investors to promote Aqaba as a highly competitive tourism attraction and investment hub.
The investors briefed the King on the main obstacles to their activities in Aqaba and the procedures required from Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) and the Jordanian government to help them surmount these difficulties. Investors in attendance represented real estate, logistics, ports, maritime transport and tourism, and industrial sectors.
