His Majesty King Abdullah said on Monday that there will be no security or stability in the Middle East until the Palestinian issue is resolved conclusively.
In remarks during a lecture at the British Royal College of Defence Studies (RCDS), King Abdullah reiterated the centrality of the Palestinian issue.
The King stressed that a final solution must be reached to meet the aspirations of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on their national soil.
His Majesty stressed Jordan’s support for a political solution to the Syrian crisis and efforts exerted by the Arab League-UN envoy Kofi Annan to end the bloodshed and maintain the unity and cohesion of Syria and its people.
In a conversation that followed the lecture, the King responded to questions from students and professors. The RCDS was established in 1927 and is one of the most prominent colleges focusing on defence and security issues in the world.
RCDS Commandant David Bill announced that the college granted the King honorary membership in recognition of his strategic thinking and experience in dealing with Middle East issues and global challenges, as well as his major contributions and efforts to achieve peace and security in the world.
Bill noted that the lectures delivered by the King at the college have enriched its curriculum and provided students with the opportunity to get acquainted with major issues and challenges facing the Middle East.
The lecture constitutes a key part of the RCDS’ postgraduate-level course in strategic leadership and international strategic studies, which includes students from various countries.
